Bill Monet, president and CEO of Akima, has accepted the 2025 Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson.
The Akima executive was recognized with his sixth straight Wash100 Award for his relentless drive to grow the company and significant contributions to shaping the government contracting industry. His latest honor highlights his three decades of exceptional leadership in the GovCon environment, particularly as the CEO of Akima, where his strategic vision greatly contributed to the company’s major contract wins.
“With a career spanning three decades, Bill has built an impressive legacy in federal contracting. As CEO of Akima, an Alaska Native corporation, he leads a diverse portfolio spanning IT, facilities and ground logistics, aerospace solutions, protective services, systems engineering, mission support, and much more,” remarked Garrettson, founder of the Wash100 Award.
“Under his leadership, Akima continues to win major contracts, including a $449 million Department of Energy award and a $563 million Army deal for Redstone Arsenal support. His deep industry expertise and strategic vision make this recognition well-deserved,” continued Garrettson.
Akima’s Expansion Efforts and Contract Wins
A master of strategic expansion, Monet led Akima’s growth in 2024 through significant awards and various growth initiatives. The company secured several high-profile awards, including a 10-year, $750 million IT modernization contract with the U.S. Air Force, a 10-year, $563 million contract with the U.S. Army for installation support services and a five-year, $55 million contract with the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command for IT and communications infrastructure services.
Monet spearheaded the company’s expansion with the inauguration of its Tampa, Florida, office. The new site aligns with Akima’s dedication to providing critical support to the U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Central Command.
